Planning permission is an essential factor of any alterations to your property. You can engage the services of an architect or architectural services business to guide you through the process of securing planning permission for your home alteration. Architects are familiar with submitting planning applications, and will have a good knowledge of the requirements and limitations both nationally and in your local area. The majority of planning permission applications are granted, especially if you can show that your building work is sympathetic to the conditions outlined by local authority policy.

Architects can help with every part of your planning application, from creating technical and architectural drawings to filing paperwork with your local authority. They are able to also make sure that your planned work is designed to a high standard, creating functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces that will complement your current property. Although some alterations to your property are allowed by permitted development rights and therefore won’t require planning permission, you’ll still need to comply with building regulations. Hiring an architect to draw up the plans for your alteration will make sure that any work you carry out will adhere to these regulations and be of a high standard.

Barnoldswick, usually named Barlick, is a town and civil parish within the English county of Lancashire. Close to the county border with North Yorkshire, it’s just outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town is built in the shadow of Weets Hill, and Stock Beck, a tributary of the River Ribble, can be observed running through the town. As per the 2011 Census, the town boasts a permanent population of 11005. Barnoldswick and the surrounding areas of West Craven were part of the historic West Riding of Yorkshire between 876, the earliest discovered written reference to the Ridings of York in the Anglo Saxon Chronicles, and 1974, when local government was reorganised. West Riding County Council and Barnoldswick Urban District Council were abolished and replaced in this area by the Borough of Pendle, a part of Lancashire. Positioned around the lower slopes of Weets Hill in the Pennines on the natural watershed between the Ribble and Aire valleys, Barnoldswick is the highest town on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, on the summit level of the canal between Barrowford Locks to the south west and Greenberfield Locks to the north east of the town. It is situated around 30 miles (48 km) from the cities of Leeds, Manchester and Preston. Nearby towns are Skipton to the east, Clitheroe to the west, Burnley towards the south and Keighley to the southeast. Barnoldswick, with 12 letters, is among the longest place names in the United Kingdom which does not repeat any letters. For all your home improvement work, be sure that you pick vetted professionals in Barnoldswick to ensure you get the best quality service.
