Planning permission is an essential requirement of any extensions to your property. You can engage the services of an architect or architectural services business to direct you through the procedure of obtaining planning permission for your home alteration. Architects are familiar with submitting planning applications, and will have a good knowledge of the requirements and limitations both nationally and in your local area. The requirements for planning permission do vary among local authorities, and they’ll take into consideration things like the style of the houses in the area, car parking requirements, and the needs of neighbouring properties, among other aspects. Furthermore, planning permission requirements are more restrictive in conservation areas or if your property is a listed building.

Architects can help with every aspect of your planning application, from creating technical and architectural drawings to filing paperwork with the local authority. They can also make sure that your planned work is designed to a high standard, creating practical and aesthetically pleasing spaces that will complement your current property. Although some alterations to your property are covered by permitted development rights and as a consequence won’t require planning permission, you’ll still need to conform to building regulations. Hiring an architect to draw up the plans for your alteration will make sure that any work you undertake will abide by these regulations and be of a high standard.

Bedlington is a town found in South East Northumberland, England. Previously a mining town, it’s approximately 20 miles to the north of Newcastle upon Tyne and 4.5 miles southeast of the county town of Morpeth, as well as being close to locations like Ashington, Blyth and Cramlington. The town is known most famously for giving its name to the Bedlington Terrier, a type of dog. As outlined by the 2011 Census, the town boasts a population of about 18,470. Since the closure of the iron works and also the coal mines, it is chiefly a dormitory town for all those employed within the nearby towns and cities. Bedlington Old Hall, a 15th-century building that is typically claimed to be the most historically significant building in Bedlington, was demolished in 1959 to make space for council offices. Even so, several sites of historic significance and regional interest continue to exist in the area. An important historic building still standing is the Anglican parish church of St. Cuthbert. It’s claimed that this dedication has been taken from an event which occurred in 1069. While escaping northwards from William the Conqueror’s army, it is said that the monks of Durham laid the body of St. Cuthbert in the town’s church. Hartford Hall is also within the parish, and also a large amount of the riverside land between Bedlington and the Hall constitutes Bedlington County Park, which is a local nature reserve. Residents continue to shop at a weekly market that comes to the town on Thursdays, which is held at the market place. For all your home improvement tasks, be sure that you choose vetted specialists in Bedlington to ensure that you get the top quality service.
