Planning permission is an important aspect of any alterations to your house. You can engage the services of an architect or architectural services firm to assist you through the process of obtaining planning permission for your home extension. Architects are experienced with submitting planning applications, and will have a good understanding of the requirements and limitations both nationally and in your local area. The majority of planning permission applications are granted, especially if you can show that your building work is sympathetic to the conditions established by local authority policy.

Architects can help with every part of your planning application, from generating technical and architectural drawings to submitting paperwork with your local authority. They can also ensure that your planned work is designed to a high standard, creating usable and aesthetically pleasing spaces that will complement your current property. While some alterations to your house are included in permitted development rights and as a consequence won’t require planning permission, you’ll still need to adhere to building regulations. Hiring an architect to draw up the plans for your alteration will guarantee that any work you carry out will adhere to these regulations and be of a high standard.

Beckenham was a tiny village inside the borough in Kent mostly with land serving as private parkland till the railway was constructed in 1857. After that, an entrepreneurial family started constructing villas which caused the populace to increase massively from just 2,000 to 26,000 between 1850 and 1900. Since 1900, housing has been constructed at a steadier pace, meaning the populace is starting to even out. In the 2011 census, the populace stood at 56,668.

The district is served by three principal railway stations as well as six more inside the post town. There is also two Croydon Tramlink stations to the west of the area. Transport for London buses serve the Beckenham area to link it with other towns like Bromley, Catford, Croydon and Crystal Palace.

Beckenham is recognised for its several places of worship. St George’s Church is the primary parish church and stands at the centre of the district. It goes back to about 1100, but was majorly rebuilt in the end of the 19th century. It includes a 13th century lynch gate that is regarded as among the oldest of its sort in England.
