Technical drawings are produced for numerous different products, and you will probably encounter technical drawings at a number of stages through any building work you carry out. Usually, technical drawings are created by an architect or structural engineer when planning a conversion or extension. These technical drawings are often produced for the construction contractor, and will contain specifications for the types of material used for specific aspects of the build as well as the methods of construction to be carried out. Technical drawings also contain measurements for a variety of aspects of the building, like ceiling heights and floor plans.
Technical drawings may be either 2D or 3D depending on the information that needs to be communicated in the plans. They can be created either by hand or by using computer aided design, although the majority of technical drawings are produced and delivered digitally as the computer aided design software offers precision measurements.
