Planning permission is an essential requirement of any extensions to your home. You can engage the services of an architect or architectural services company to direct you through the procedure of securing planning permission for your home extension. Architects are familiar with submitting planning applications, and will have a good understanding of the requirements and restrictions both country wide and in your local area. The majority of planning permission applications are granted, especially if you can establish that your building work is sympathetic to the conditions established by local authority policy.
Architects can help with every area of your planning application, from generating technical and architectural drawings to filing paperwork with the local authority. They are able to also ensure that your proposed work is designed to a high standard, creating usable and beautiful spaces that will complement your current property. While some alterations to your property are allowed by permitted development rights and as a consequence won’t need planning permission, you’ll still need to conform to building regulations. Hiring an architect to draft the plans for your extension will ensure that any work you undertake will comply with these regulations and be of a high standard.

The London Borough of Waltham Forest is a London borough in north east London, England. The local authority is Waltham Forest London Borough Council. It covers a total area of around 14.99 square miles. The borough is situated between Epping Forest and Essex in the north, Redbridge to the east, Newham and Hackney to the south, and Haringey and Enfield in the west, exactly where the River Lea and Lea Valley and the surrounding parkland forms a green corridor separating north and east London. Major districts are Leyton and Leytonstone in the south, Walthamstow at the centre, and Chingford in the north.
As outlined by population estimates from the middle of 2014, Waltham Forest is a borough with a permanent population of around 268020 inhabitants. The north and south of the borough, split by the North Circular Road, contrast markedly in terms of ethnicity and socio-economic indicators, with built-up urban districts in the south having inner-city characteristics, and more affluent residential development towards the north with open spaces, parks, and playing fields.
Historically known as the seat of the Arts and Crafts Movement under the stewardship of William Morris, Waltham Forest continues to support a lot of contemporary artists and art groups. These include the North East London Independent Artists group, primarily based in the Changing Room Gallery in Lloyd Park, the 491 Gallery in Leytonstone, as well as a number of independent artists, also primarily in the Leytonstone area. Waltham Forest was among the list of six London boroughs that hosted the 2012 Summer Olympics.
