Planning permission is an important aspect of any alterations to your house. You can engage the services of an architect or architectural services firm to direct you through the process of acquiring planning permission for your home alteration. Architects are familiar with submitting planning applications, and will have a good knowledge of the requirements and limits both country wide and in your local area. The majority of planning permission applications are granted, particularly if you can demonstrate that your building work is sympathetic to the conditions established by local authority policy.

Architects can help with every area of your planning application, from generating technical and architectural drawings to filing paperwork with your local authority. They are able to also make sure that your proposed work is designed to a high standard, creating functional and beautiful spaces that will suit your current property. While some alterations to your home are allowed by permitted development rights and therefore won’t need planning permission, you’ll still need to comply with building regulations. Hiring an architect to draw up the plans for your extension will guarantee that any work you undertake will abide by these regulations and be of a high standard.

The London Borough of Wandsworth is a London borough in England, and forms part of Inner London. The borough was formed in 1965 from the former area of the Metropolitan Borough of Battersea plus the Metropolitan Borough of Wandsworth, but excluding Clapham and the majority of Streatham, which were transferred towards the London Borough of Lambeth.

It covers an overall area of roughly 13.23 square miles. In accordance with population estimates made part way through 2014, the borough features a permanent population of about 312145 inhabitants. You’ll find numerous new or refurbished buildings along the borough’s prosperous riverside such as the substantial Chelsea Bridge Wharf.

The Peace Pagoda, one of many such international Pagodas is in Battersea Park, a sprawling rectangle typically hosting circuses next to the Thames. The London Heliport, London’s primary and busiest heliport is just beyond Battersea Park and south of this is New Covent Garden Market. In Old Battersea two masonry mansions survived The Blitz, Old Battersea House and Downshire House, both of which hold the uncommon Grade II* status.
