A structural inspection is often only undertaken when a structural defect or issue is identified or suspected. Typically as part of the process of a Home Buyer’s Survey if any structural problems are suspected they will be noted for additional investigation by a specialist structural engineer, who will be able to determine the specific problem and advise on the practical methods to fix. When there is a more substantial suspected problem or the building’s history is particularly poor, a general structural inspection may be performed which will require an inspection of the complete structure and all load-bearing elements of the building, together with inspections of the surrounding site and any possible effects it might have, such as drainage issues or any trees near to the foundations of the house.
Structural surveys can be carried out on an ad hoc basis on existing buildings if you suspect any type of structural defect, for example cracking in walls, sagging of ceilings or roofs, or subsistence around the foundations of the building. When searching for a structural engineer, look for Chartered Surveyors who’ll be members of either the Institution of Structural Engineers or the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Brackley is a town within south Northamptonshire. It’s around 19 miles (31 kilometres) from Oxford and 22 miles (35 kilometres) from Northampton. Inititally a market town primarily based on the wool and lace trade, it was founded on the intersection of trade routes in between London, Birmingham and the English Midlands and between Cambridge and Oxford. Brackley has a resident population of about 13,018 (2011 Census) which has increased considerably from 2,467 in 1901. The town was the site of a historically significant meeting amongst the barons and representatives of the King in 1215, the year of the Magna Carta. In 1602, the metaphysical poet John Donne was elected as MP for the Brackley constituency. Brackley is close to the Silverstone motor racing circuit, and features some industry related to Formula One racing, notably the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team which is located within the town, and also the Force India F1 team which operates a wind tunnel on the former site of the town’s north railway station. On the east outskirts of the town is H. Bronnley & Co., manufacturers of hand-made soaps who hold Royal Warrants of Appointment for supplying Queen Elizabeth II and the Prince of Wales. The Brackley Morris Men are one of only seven ‘traditional Cotswold’ Morris dancing sides remaining in England and the only one to survive in Northamptonshire. Their history dates back to the 1600s when a solid silver communion plate was given to the parish. The plate which remains in the possession of St Peters Church is dated 1623, and is inscribed with the names of seven men, whom local folklore believes to have been the morris dancers. Brackley features football, rugby and tennis clubs. For all your house upgrades, be certain that you select vetted pros in Brackley to make sure you get the very best quality service.
