Surveying can come in a number of forms. Many homeowners will experience a Home Buyer’s Survey as part of the procedure of selling or buying a home. The Home Buyer’s Survey is undertaken to guarantee the home buyer is completely informed of the condition of the house they are buying, alongside any likely issues around insulation, damp proofing or drainage. For older buildings or for buildings where the buyer is less certain of its condition, a full building survey can be accomplished, which goes into more detail than a Home Buyer’s Survey, and will identify any further defects with the house as well as involving an examination of the land surrounding the building.
Other types of survey include a land survey, which will involve an inspection of the condition of the land. Surveyors can also carry out snagging reports, which are performed after a new build is completed to highlight any issues or defects with the quality of the property which may then be rectified.
When searching for a company to undertake surveying work, ensure you choose a chartered surveyor qualified by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

The London Borough of Merton is a borough in south-west London, England. The borough was formed under the London Government Act 1963 in 1965 by the merger of the Municipal Borough of Mitcham, the Municipal Borough of Wimbledon as well as the Merton and Morden Urban District, all formerly inside Surrey. The borough derives its name from the historic parish of Merton, which was centred around the area now known as South Wimbledon. The local authority is Merton London Borough Council.
Merton covers a total area of around 14.52 square miles. Merton is served by a wide array of National Rail stations across the borough, along with the southern tip of the London Underground’s Northern line along with the District line on the Wimbledon branch. It’s the only London Borough which has tube, rail and tram services.
The key industrial centres in Merton are Mitcham, Morden and Wimbledon, of which Wimbledon is the biggest. Other smaller sized centres consist of Raynes Park, Colliers Wood, South Wimbledon, Wimbledon Park and Pollards Hill. Every year, Wimbledon, one of the four tennis Grand Slam tournaments, is held at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Church Road Wimbledon. The occasion happens over a fortnight at the end of June and beginning of July and it’s the biggest annual sporting occasion to take place in the United Kingdom, attracting over 200000 visitors in the course of the Wimbledon fortnight.
