The process for dealing with party walls when it comes to building and construction works, especially any conversions or extensions to your premises, can be intricate. However, if party wall notices are taken into account from the early phases of a project, and you are sure to use surveyors to carry out the requisite surveys as soon as possible then it can be simpler to get a Party Wall Agreement.
You need to seek a Party Wall Agreement if your proposed work consists of either building on or at the boundary line between two properties, or on a pre-existing party wall or structure, or if your project demands digging below and near the pre-existing foundation line of the neighbouring property. In all of these situations, you must submit a Party Wall Notice to the owner of the adjoining property. This includes all owners of the property, so if the adjoining property is a leasehold or home with multiple occupancy you may need to serve this notice to several people. Your Party Wall Notice should include information regarding yourself and your property as well as information about the scope and nature of the planned work.

The London Borough of Merton is a borough in south-west London, England. The borough was formed under the London Government Act 1963 in 1965 by the merger of the Municipal Borough of Mitcham, the Municipal Borough of Wimbledon plus the Merton and Morden Urban District, all formerly within Surrey. The borough derives its name from the historic parish of Merton, which was centred around the location now called South Wimbledon. The local authority is Merton London Borough Council.
As outlined by population estimates made during 2014, the borough features a permanent population of about 203515 people. The borough is also served by numerous London Tramlink stops from Wimbledon, which goes to Croydon, New Addington, Elmers End and Beckenham. It is the only London Borough which has tube, rail and tram services.
The key commercial centres in Merton are Mitcham, Morden and Wimbledon, of which Wimbledon is the largest. Other smaller centres consist of Raynes Park, Colliers Wood, South Wimbledon, Wimbledon Park and Pollards Hill. Every year, Wimbledon, one of the four tennis Grand Slam tournaments, takes place at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Church Road Wimbledon. The occasion happens over a fortnight at the end of June and beginning of July and it is the largest annual sporting occasion to take place in the United Kingdom, attracting over 200000 guests for the duration of the Wimbledon fortnight.
